Cajun turkey recipes

Ingredients

For the Turkey:

  • 1 whole turkey (12-15 lbs), thawed, cleaned, and patted dry
  • 1 large onion, quartered
  • 1 lemon, halved
  • 4 garlic cloves, peeled and smashed
  • 4 sprigs of fresh thyme
  • 3 sprigs of fresh rosemary

For the Cajun Rub:

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • 1 tbsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust for spice preference)
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp white pepper
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp salt

For the Injection (Optional but Recommended):

  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Position the oven rack at the lowest setting to allow space for the turkey.
